Arts Performing- Literature
Meets the 3rd Monday of each month at the homes of various members. Books are read, discussed and reports are occasionally given. We take part in Paramus Library events, donate books and read to children in the area as well as Paterson. We also support the Paramus Scholarship Fund.
Arts Performing - Music and Drama
This dept offers an opportunity for those who love to dance, sing or perform in any way. We are a unique resident troupe known as the Estelle Reo Dancers. We not only perform for our club but also nursing homes, hospitals, and Federation events. Yearly, we put on a holiday show and when scheduling permits, a spring show as well. Rehearsals occur occasionally throughout the summer and then weekly until the performance. Meetings are held prior to each season to discuss ideas for the show. Dance instruction as well as accompaniment is provided by members as are costumes, music and stage decor.
Gardening and Conservation
Meets monthly for approximately one hour in the early afternoon to discuss and complete various projects. Each member takes a turn in hosting the meeting as we lunch together.
We participate in a variety of environmental and gardening activities such as providing info at earth day events, gardening and planting trees around town, supplying an environmental newspaper to a designated local school each year, and donating books on gardening and conservation to the Paramus library. We are always open to new and creative ideas promoting garden and conservation.
Home Life/Social Services
This department is split into 2 groups, one meeting during the day on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the clubhouse and the other meeting in the evening at the clubhouse when schedules permit. Each is run by its own chairperson. We work on service projects for our local social service department in conjunction with families in need. We assemble "blizzard bags" for those who may not be able to go out when the weather is bad, we collect clothing for families in need, and are currently working on pillowcases for cancer patients. Easter outfits are also provided to those who cannot provide their own.
Arts Creative
Meetings are held at various times throughout the year at the clubhouse as well as homes of members. We specialize in arts and crafts which are made at our meetings. Materials are provided by the dept. These are used at the clubhouse as well as for fundraising. We also visit various museums.
